Worldwide pollution in all its forms and manifestations has now reached unsustainable levels. The medley churned out by technology and the media and the frenetic non-stop pace of life imposed on us by modern society have blunted our awareness and possibly even partly altered our perception of reality.

The time has come to wake up! Let us break free from the fetters of complacency, superficiality, disinterest, indifference and cynicism, which frequently unconsciously condition our attitudes. All too often, we suffer without reacting and when we do finally set to work it is frequently too late.

Will we perhaps be woken up by the next ecological disaster or do we prefer to wait for an energy blackout?
When are we going to start paying back the enormous debts we have incurred with Nature?
We ought to be living exclusively off interest but, instead, we are relentlessly squandering, at a truly mind-boggling rate, the capital that the Earth has provided us with. What sort of world are we going to leave to generations to come?
When are we going to begin to distribute wealth equitably?
When are we going to restore dignity to all human beings regardless of their race, religion, political beliefs and economic and social circumstances?
When are we going to use our purchasing power in a way that gives preference to products and services that respect people’s work and the environment?
When are we going to learn to love and respect in the way that we would want to be loved and respected?

“Anyone who does not know the trust is just an idiot; anyone who knows the truth and calls it a lie is a criminal” – as Bertolt Brecht once put it.

The truth is staring each and every one of us in the face! The time has come to ask ourselves in all our everyday activities, and especially in our jobs, not what we can expect by introducing environmentally and socially responsible management in our business, but what we lose if we fail to do so! This is the force that has been inspiring our work for the past ten years. We provide support to organisations involved directly in tourism or activities close to it to set up or expand a system of management which makes provision not just for economic success but also for protection of the environment and care for the people involved.

Protecting the environment and looking after the physical and psychological integrity of people are duties from which no business should try to escape.

Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it.
Boldness has genius, power and magic in.
Begin it, begin it now!

Johann Wolfgang Goethe
